Women Deserve Better Explanations for Why Something is Recommended
How many times have you seen:
“Your labs say normal, but you are not in optimal range”
Except, who came up with the optimal range? Was it based off of research studies, clinical experience or a weekend course? If your practitioner can’t tell you, or won’t tell you … that is a red flag.
As a consumer and a patient, you have the right to know where this optimal range is coming from. I have built optimal ranges for various labs over the years from research studies, clinical experience and input from experts in each field. Like many aspects of medicine, they are continually evolving and being updated as new credible information is found.
Don’t be afraid to talk to your practitioner about the ranges they want to see certain labs in. It should always be a conversation and you should comfortable with the information they are sharing.
You spend good money, and you deserve to know the basis of each recommendation.
