Top 3 Reasons You Should Be Picky About Where you Buy Supplements

I always respect and appreciate the desire to save money where you can. I do it all the time in my own life. But, supplements is not always one of those areas. Now, I don’t mean for you to spend frivolously on products you don’t need.

I do mean for you to purchase quality products that we know have the research behind them to prove they:

  1. Contain what they claim

  2. Contain the amounts they claim to

  3. Don’t contain miscellaneous items or harmful items

To do this, most companies can not manufacture an ultra-cheap option. My goal is not for you to be on supplements forever. This means we need to put money where it will make the most positive impact on your health and get results.

Here are the top three reasons, I believe you need to be picky about where you buy your supplements and who you buy them from:

  1. The supplement industry is unregulated. There are not a lot of guarantees you are getting what you paid for. This can show up as: poorly sourced materials, inaccurate expiry dates, claims to contain materials that are absent or filler materials that aren’t listed on the ingredient list. Without any regulation or guidelines for production, you are putting your trust in the company to give you the quality product you asked for.

  2. The supplement industry has one goal in mind: make loads of money. As much as marketing plans may run on ethical, organic or environmental — all companies still need to make money. This means companies have a lot more flexibility and leeway to provide a product that makes them the most money. This may mean a company claims to do something or include something that is not true. Without anyone checking their work, you are purchasing based on their word.

  3. You don’t want to be on supplements forever. You will spend a lot more money in the long run if you take ineffective supplements than spend slightly more on quality products that get results.

It can be exhausting fishing through all the ads and supplement companies to find ‘the best’ option. This is why I have done the background work for you. I choose companies I trust based on their quality measures, product sourcing and research. I work within my patients’ financial constraints to make sure they are getting the key resources they need at a manageable price point.

Do you remember the saying, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” ?

The same applies to your supplement purchases.
